In these lectures, Fr. John Erickson, dean emeritus and professor of church history at St. Vladimir Orthodox Theological Seminary, New York, and Fr. Ron Roberson, associate director, secretariat for ecumenical and interreligious affairs of the United States Conference for Catholic Bishops, explore the history of division between the Orthodox and Catholic Churches, and the recent efforts to move to “full, visible unity,” as envisioned by Pope Benedict XVI.
These lectures were presented on Oct. 20, 2011 at University of Detroit Mercy, under the auspices of the Orthodox-Catholic Witness of Metropolitan Detroit, a group of Eastern and Roman Catholic clergy and lay faithful from the Archdiocese of Detroit and Orthodox clergy in metro Detroit who have met regularly since 2001 to share the riches of each other’s tradition as we pray together the words of Jesus, “that they may be one!”
